Getting Here
Derby is located approximately 100km from Launceston, Tasmania's second-largest city. The most common way to get to Derby is by car, which takes around 1.5 hours from Launceston. There is also a bus service that stops in Derby on its way from Launceston to St Helens.
When to Visit
The best time to visit Derby depends on what you want to do. The mountain biking trails are most popular in the summer months (December-February), while the autumn (March-May) is a great time for hiking and enjoying the beautiful fall colors. Winter (June-August) can be cold and snowy, but provides opportunities for snowshoeing and other winter sports. Spring (September-November) is a quieter time to visit and a good choice if you prefer to avoid crowds.
